Welcome to ÅBM Racing

Top Doorslammer

We are at Gardermoen Raceway and almost ready for qualifying round 1 tomorrow Friday after a really scary ride to get here!

The roads we did chose was not right for our truck and trailer! They are so narrow so it was really hard to drive, it was some road work, we checked out the ditch a little too close at a moment but it went good!

And then when it felt like nothing more can make this trip worse we almost fronted with another truck that was in our lane heading straight against us when trying to go around a moped or something so I did step on the brake and turned around it and when I did stuff moved around in the trailer and damaged our winner trophy from Tierp this year!

Fucking idiot but things could have been really bad right now so we are happy I reacted fast to the situation!…

So we are happy to be here again, we have built our pit area, we have put the Chevelle back together and fired it up and everything is good for tomorrow!

We have also got a traditional race weekend Taco Thursday with grocery’s from our great partner ICA Gärdet!

Hey ho let’s go to Norway and Gardermoen Raceway for the EDRS Top Doorslammer round 5 and the finals in the series for 2022!

But first breakfast!

Yesterday I drove the first part to Vansbro alone to meet up with parts of the team for this weekend, and now this morning me, Sofi, Krille and Fredrik are heading for Norway and Gardermoen Raceway to meet up with Dad, Max, John and Dennis later today!

It’s good to have a large parking spot outside the house! 😉

Yesterday’s team building dinner at the local pizza place! 🙂

What needed to be fixed on the Chevelle is done, I have bought the new parts we needed, spares are fixed, the trailer is organized!

Max and Dennis went by our awesome partner ICA Gärdet on Tuesday and got all the grocery’s we need to survive the race weekend!

Not a lot of cars but at least we are 5 cars in the TD class this weekend, we are still in the points lead and are planing to stay there after the weekend is over! 🙂

Hope to see you guys at Gardermoen this coming weekend!

Top Doorslammer round 4 at Sundsvall Raceway wasn’t our weekend, track was too tricky! (And not just for us, it was the first time ever I heard JR Dragster team complain about a track condition) I really wanted it to be better than it was and tried too much! And then it also ended early in elimination round one against Kenneth Lingvald with broken crank blower pulley bolts 2.2 seconds out when I finally took away enough power to go down the track!… E1 was the best pass during the whole weekend when looking at the graphs, finally a pass with an ok but slow wheel speed, good G-meter and no shake! But only until the motor got naturally aspirated!…

It could have been a good race but all the pedaling and shaking with the motor really rich on fuel and low timing resulted in broken crank pulley bolts… At least that is how I see it. It was really sad because it was finally fun to drive the car for the first time during the whole weekend! Car felt really really good and it would have been a tight race against Kenneth Lingvald, I was slower on the tree (that old man got some awesome reactions) and he drove the car the whole way to a 4.41 (low on power of course) to the 1/8 mile and on the 330ft we both did have a time of 2.91 even that I just coasted from 2.2 seconds when my motor stopped pulling when the blower stopped!.. That sucks when I probably would have won that round, BUT this is the best part of drag racing! It isn’t over until it’s over when the best car / driver crosses the finish line! Congrats to Kenneth and KLR Motorsports for the round win!

I could not figure out the track, and the real reason we went there was to check out the track conditions! With my Racepak graphs and info, track meter etc. from earlier years I must say that the track was better in 2017 compared to this weekend!… And then I really wonder why a known problem from the last race with the track surface coming loose wasn’t fixed before the event!? It was a warm and sunny Friday and about 3 hours just got wasted for all racers and spectators… Nothing good about that!! But after they fixed the first part of the track where the surface got loose the first 60-80 feet was really good! But then the track kind of disappears and that is really tricky to tune after. On Saturday it started with rain, its sad but there is noting at all to do about that because it’s something we can’t control! Its just doing the best of it and we did work some on the trailer and organized some stuff, Sofi took the opportunity to test sit a JR Dragster, really don’t know what that will end up with!? And like I said the reason to all bad runs is that I really hoped that the track was better and gave it too much even that I took away A LOT of power, I did slow down the motor with transmission, way rich on fuel and have less timing than I ever tried! Still it was too much, yes I’m able to change the whole car and make it work better but I think that if you need to change everything in the car to make it work the track isn’t good enough for a high powered Top Doorslammer car so I did not even care about huge chassis adjustments! No prep racing is not for me!…. And this is the real reason why there is so small amount of cars attending the event!

I made one full pass during the weekend without any pedaling, a slow 4.28 @ 275km/h, but I was just lucky and on the edge to go in to shake all the way and after 330ft the G-meter and wheel speed did go crazy up and down all the way to the finish line! I could even hear the motor rpm go up and down and the car was fishtailing pretty much!

Well, we did the best of it anyway, great friends around us, special guests were Jörgen and Bengt, really great and pretty warm weather with only a little rain on Saturday, it was great to be there at Sundsvall Raceway again with all the nice people and the facility that they work on and improve all the time! The one and only thing I’m disappointed at is the track, everything else is perfect!! Noting else needs to be changed, I went there on this event because I said I will do 4 events in the series this year and I really wanted to see if the track has changed from the last time I was there… My graphs and data are giving me what I need to make my own opinion about it, nothing more to say about that!

But I must say it’s a long time since I was this disappointed after a race!… First the track problems, and then a couple of cheap bolts stopped the weekends best round! And now when I’m thinking about Saturdays problem we did have with a blower starter that stopped us from making a pass makes me even more disappointed because if we would have made that round the bolts might have broken already on Saturday and we would have fixed it during the night to Sunday instead!… But of course, nothing say that they would have broken on that round if we would have made it.

Thanks to Sundsvall Raceway and all the people that works there! And thanks for the best 60ft trophy and the price money, much appreciated!

Congrats to Stefan “Totte” Carlsson and team Tee Cee Racing for the event win and for being able / having the spirit and knowledge to figure out the track and make 2 decent passes down it! Nice work guys! And a huge thanks for letting us borrow your starter battery!

Thanks to all involved this weekend, friends, family, my awesome team! Dad, Sofi, Max, John, Krille, Dennis and this weekend’s special guests Jörgen and Bengt!

On our way home again! Thanks to Sundsvall Raceway and all the people that does all they can to make the organization and facility better and better! 🙂 And thanks for the best event 60ft trophy and the price money! 😀

I could really not figure out the track this weekend, and the real reason we went here was to check out the track conditions! With my graphs and info from earlier years I must say that the track was better in 2017 compared to this weekend!… And then I really wonder why a known problem with the track surface wasn’t fixed before the event, it’s just stupid to wait and do it on a warm and sunny race day, that was about 3 hours just waisted time for all racers and spectators… Nothing good about that!!

And the reason to all bad runs is that I really hoped that the track was better and gave it too much even that I took away A LOT of power, but I needed to slow down the motor with transmission, way rich on fuel and have less timing than I ever tried, so much that the motor started to misfire!..

On the 4.28 on Saturday I was just lucky and on the edge to go in to shake all the way and after 330ft the G-meter and wheel speed did go crazy up and down all the way to the finish line! I could hear the motor rpm go up and down and the car was fishtailing pretty much!

And all the pedaling and shaking with the motor rich on fuel and low timing resulted in broken crank pulley bolts… That was really sad because I finally started to figure out the track and did have the best looking graphs during the whole weekend! Car felt really really good and it would have been a really tight race against Kenneth Lingvald, I was a little slower on the tree (he got awesome reactions) and he drove the car the whole way to a 4.41 to the 1/8 mile and on the 330ft we both did have a time of 2.91 even that I just coasted from 2.2 seconds when my motor stopped pulling when the blower stopped!..

Well, that’s racing and it ain’t over until it’s over and that the fun thing!

But I must say it’s a long time since I was this disappointed as I am today!… First the track problems, and then a couple of cheap bolts stopped the weekends best round! And now when I’m thinking about yesterdays problems we did have with the blower starter that stopped us from making a pass I get even more disappointed because if we would have made that round the bolts might have broke already yesterday and we would have fixed it during the night instead!… But of course nothing say that they would have snapped off on that round yesterday!

Thanks to all involved this weekend, partners, sponsors, friends, family, my awesome team! Dad, Sofi, Max, John, Krille, Dennis and this weekends guests Jörgen and Bengt! 🙂

We at least got a little trophy and some price money for the best 60ft on the event, that’s the third time on three events this year! 🙂

Loading up the circus!

Good bye Sundsvall Raceway!

Max is happy with our third position of three cars on the event! 😉 Hahahhaha!!!

I did just put us on the entry list for the EDRS Top Doorslammer round 5 and the finals at Gardermoen Raceway in Norway in less than 2 weeks! 🙂 Not much cars again but hopefully that changes.

Elimination round 1 was a good race agains Kenneth Lingvald all the way to 2.2 seconds when all the power went away!…

I did finally find a decent slow tune for the track and I felt the car pulling better than what it have during the whole event and it just went dead, or it felt like that! I was still having the pedal to the metal and I was falling against the windshield!…

I assumed it was a crank or something because the motor went silent, but then I heard it was till idling and I turned it off myself, when I got out of the car I saw that the blower belt was a bit loose and I looked down and saw that it was room between the crank pulley and the crank hub!… So I did guess it was the bolts that snapped off, and now in the pit when we took it apart I saw I was right!…

Bad tracks hurt parts! Period!!!!

All pedaling and shakes is not good for the parts, and together with a way to rich motor low on timing it’s even more bad for the motor…

Next, Gardermoen Raceway in Norway!

We did just warm up the motor and are ready for elimination round 1 in a bit!

We got a sunny Sunday morning here at Sundsvall Raceway!

They added qualifying rounds today before eliminations but we will skip them because I can not see that I will be able to improve on this track with the conditions we have here! It’s just a waste of time and parts!.. We will wait for elimination round 1 and I do not expect to be able to take the car down without getting into tire shake but we need the points so that’s the only reason to do it!

We are instead saving parts for the Top Doorslammer round 5 and the finals in the series at Gardermoen in Norway in about 2 weeks from today!

The Chevelle is ready for tomorrows eliminations!

One more cozy evening here at Sundsvall Raceway! 🙂

Dad and Krille did check the motor after our shaky rounds this weekend and all looks good, I’ve heard that we got two more qualifying rounds before eliminations today / Sunday but I’m not interested because I went here to see if the track is better than what it was when I was here in 2017 and now I have my own opinion about it.

But everything around here when it comes to Sundsvall Raceway is more than great, the facility, the people! 🙂

John makes the Chevelle look good, our Manton valve train looks great as always! And Dennis are getting us dinner with grocery’s from our partner ICA Gärdet!

One more evening with a group of great people! <3
