Btw, the Dodge truck is for sale! Contact Johan Lindberg if interested! Also thanks to Johan for the Easter candy! 🙂
See you this weekend at Elmia Custom Motor Show!
The events below is what Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing will attend during our soft 2018 season!
Starting already this week on Friday March 30 on Elmia Bilsport Custom Motor Show in Jönköping. It’s a great place to be at to advertise my racing and our sponsors and partners, I see it as a way to give something back to the ones that supports us and our racing! =D
The plan from the beginning was not to race at all this year due to some private stuff and due to all problems during the last couple of years when it comes to parts issues and promise that made me lose the spirit totally… BUT because of our awesome partners I changed my mind a bit and will do a couple of test races / outings only to chase that scoreboard to light up a 3.7??…
All partners that are helping out in some little way are really important to me and I really appreciate their help no matter what I get from them or what they do to me.
Then I of course have our own companies Åkes Bil & Motor, Birka Motorrenoveringar and Sjödin Motorsport Race Cars that me and my dad are running, without them nothing of my racing would be possible due to all the time I spend in the shop working on stuff to make the racing circus work both during my “free time” or we can call it after business hours but also during business hours… But what a hell, hard work pays off and if you really want something you are able to do it because it’s pretty much only yourself that stops you from doing what you really want!
But when it comes this year there is a couple of key persons / companies in Sweden outside our own shop that made it possible to be a part of the outings we will attend this year. I can’t describe in words how much I appreciate that all of these companies are helping us out because they believe in us and have an interest in seeing us succeed with the things we are aiming for and they also enjoy doing it, it makes me happy that they want a crazy person like me to live my child dream! So send a special thanks to the following companies below for supporting Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing!
Anders at Anders Bremö Byggnads.
Roffe at The Parts Stop Sweden.
Ulf at Winassist System.
Erik, Lasse and Per at Bengtssons Smide.
Peter and Patrik at Rörmekano.
Johan at Swelube / Amalie Motor Oil.
Tobbe and Björn at Thorbjörn Grundström Plåtslageri.
Me and Sofi will exhibit the Chevelle at Elmia Custom Motor Show in Jönköping on Easter, March 30 to April 2! You will find us and the Chevelle in Sundsvall Raceway / SHRA Sundsvalls showcase with number B02:100
So please swing by for a chat and take a look at Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racings Swedish Self-Built Bad Ass Top Doorslammer!
I know I said it before but it feels pretty good to repeat that the Chevelle is the fastest door car in Europe with a Chevrolet Big Block power plant and also the worlds fastest doorslammer using a Chevy Big Block with conventional cylinder heads!
I will also represent the Top Doorslammer driver association when I’m there so if you wonder about anything please come by and I will answer your questions!
Thanks to TTR Jompa, Johan Lindberg, Tommy Ledberg, Sofi Stam and Sundsvall Raceway / SHRA Sundsvall to make this happen and once again, thanks to the ones that made this soft 2018 season possible!
All of our awesome partners!! 😀
The season 2018 have started! This past weekend was a good one to dust off the Chevelle and fire up the 2018 season for real! 🙂
Been pretty tired of the racing circus for a long time now, this was actually the first time I saw and did something on the Chevelle since me and Sofi took the motor apart just to control it after the season 2017 and that’s already 5 months ago! This was also the first time since the last outing 8 months ago that me and Max are working on the car together, it’s cray how time flies!… But at the same time it felt little fun to see the car and work some on it again, guess that some time away from it did help me get some of my spirit back again!?… 😉
Anyway, the whole car is checked trough and everything looks good, chassis cleaned up and inspected.
Bruno Drive and the transmission have been apart and is back together again, converter and third member is apart and I’m working on some tuning changes for it…. 😀
So pretty much now we are just waiting on parts to arrive to the car and then we are able to put it back together again and just wait for the first race event that Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing will attend this year at Mantorp Park the last weekend in July!
It’s the first time since 2010 that they will have an big event at Mantorp with faster cars and this is also the first time ever that Top Doorslammer will be racing at this legendary race track and also the first time for myself to take the Chevelle down the Mantorp Strip! If you ask me I can’t see a better way to celebrate 50 years of dragracing in Sweden! DON’T MISS THIS EVENT! It will be THE RACE to be at in 2018!
Thanks to all of our sponsors and partners that makes this soft season possible!
A little winter update outside the racing, back home after a good well needed no working vacation for once in the USA! But of course I needed to go by some companies and the important people that I work with to say hi and personally deliver a thanks for the 2017 season picture just to show how much I appreciate their help! Yes that’s a little work but mostly just fun to deliver it myself instead of just sending it using the postal service because you never know if it ever get there in real life… And also it is really fun to see the earlier pictures I sent the last couple of years when they are sitting there on the wall! Like I said you never know if the things are getting there or not… Except when you get some kind of reaction from the one that received it.
Went by Alan Johnson and of course my buddy Rick have a conventional BBC cylinder head in his office to look at when life feels hard! I also took the chance to pick up some parts I need, this was actually the first parts I have bought to the Chevelle since July last year! Thanks that you took your time to give us the shop tour, me and Sofi really did appreciate it!
Next stop, Manton Pushrods / Rocker arms the people here have been helping out in a lot of ways, we been trough some problems during the way with the new BBC rocker arms to the really extreme valve train to my conventional headed Chevy Big Block but they are always listening to the customer and does changes and also compensate to make everyone around happy, that’s not something that everyone does in the racing industry… I know for sure about that!… And again it’s really fun to see that the pictures I sent earlier is hanging on the wall! When I was here I also picked up some parts I need for the 2018 season that Manton helped me out with for free! Thank you Trevor that you took your time to give us the shop tour, me and Sofi really did appreciate it! And a huge thanks for the hospitality and for the great food and company we got when you invited us to stay over the night at your family’s vineyard. All aces in my book, you and Dana are the best!
Bryan aka the Piston Maker did spend around 8 weeks on me on the phone and email without that I event spend a dollar yet, I got issues with my old brand I did use and after all of that work he spent on me I got products in my motor that I am more than satisfied with! It’s fun and impressive to work with people that really love what they do, I can only say that CP Carrillo got an interest and a customer service that goes all the way to the top and that’s not something that you find at every company in the racing industry! So Bryan and the people at CP Carrillo have been helping out in a lot of ways and together we now got the fastest standard bore space Big Block Chevrolet with conventional cylinder heads in Europe, and as far as I know the worlds fastest with that motor combination. We also got the fastest and quickest car in the 2017 Scandinavia Top Doorslammer Series with our 3.84 @ 315km/h (196mph)
When I we was here I also gave Bryan some pistons and a rod that I been using during 2017, I’m satisfied with the measurements I made on it but I also want the manufacturer to check them with the correct instrument to see if we need to do any changes before we make the new parts for the 2018 season! Thank you Bryan that you took your time to give us the shop tour even that you got a really busy schedule, me and Sofi really did appreciate it!
At last, thanks to Jonnie Lindberg that hooked me up with CP Carrillo!
More friends / companies! Does anyone else think it’s time for a new Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing supporter shirt!? Well I sure do! So we went by Scott Bathurst at Classic Graphix for a shop tour and a quick talk about some coming stuff!
And just one day of dragracing, went to Pomona and biggest reason was just to see Jonnie Lindberg drive the Fuel Funny Car! 🙂 And it was nice meeting up with some people but I can say than one day was enough for me!…
And except for the stuff above, just some fun time in Cali, food, beer, sun, cars and a good good time!
My batteries aren’t fully charged but there is some more energy in me now at least… To bad there is so much snow in Sweden right now so it drains out the energy again pretty quick tho… 😉
