Today was exactly one year ago since I took the Chevelle down the track the last time, before this event I have done some changes to the ratio in the rear axle, in the transmission and then I’m trying some new stuff with the converter and also a new fuel tune up so I just wanted to take it down from A to B really safe!..

First round, the motor sounded really strange in the burn out, then when I launched it it was totally dead…. Found out that I messed up a thing in the MSD Grid so I activated a rew limiter that held down the motor at 5000rpm… no wonder it was tired! 😉

Second pass we went straight down on a 4.09s @ 293km/h like the past year never been, feels pretty good to know what my car wants to take it down the track!

Third pass was a messy one, I made the burn out then the crew told me to kill the motor due to some cars in the shut down area if I understand it right… anyway I just wanted to repeat the earlier round so I did not do any changes to the tune up and the car went down nice and smooth on a 4.06s @ 296km/h, reaction time is way bad because I could not see the pre-stage and stage bulbs in the left lane at all today during the two passes I made in it… Hopefully that is fixed until tomorrow’s qualifying..!

After the last round we have just spent the evening with some ordinary service, checking the motor, trans, eating an awesome dinner from our awesome partner Stockholm Gourmet / ICA Gärdet and then some repair welding on the chassis and stuff like that!… 🙂

Nothing we could not fix of course, the Chevelle is soon ready for tomorrow’s qualifying.

Tomorrow Saturday is a new day and it’s time to step it up a bit now when I got some new data on the car, track is way better than what thought it would be, excellent work by the Trackservice Team!

Qualifying list so far after 3 rounds.

Soon time to sleep some here at Mantorp Park, see y’all tomorrow!

It’s getting closer, we are warmed up and ready for a soft pass to check the track! Remember it’s 8 years since they got these kind of powerful cars at this track.

It’s Friday, the weather is awesome and we got our first qualifying round in about 3 hours at 12:00!

Only bad thing with a hot weather like this around 28 degrees Celsius this early in the morning is that it’s not a good power making weather, but I prefer hot before rain anyway! 😉

Breakfast time!

Raise and shine lady’s it’s racing time! =D

We are finally at Mantorp Park and Mantorp Drag Revival for our first event in 2018!! 🙂

This is pretty cool, it’s the first time Top Doorslammer have an event on this track!

Happy boys on the way to the track!

Time to unload and set up our camp for the first time in 2018.

This weekend we are sharing our pit with our awesome friends from Crowcastle Racing.

This will be a fun weekend, I just know it will be! 😀

The Chevelle is inspected and approved!

Dinner time!

Evening service and some small maintenance after warming up the motor.

Once again at our awesome partner Kaare at Stockholm Gourmet / ICA Gärdet picking up the weekends food and other groceries! This is too good to be true! 🙂

The entry list for this weekend, but what I found out we are having a couple of other teams coming to join us also!

The times for tomorrow’s qualifications are 12, 2 and 4, stay tuned!

The events below is what Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing will attend during our soft 2018 season!

Starting already this week on Friday March 30 on Elmia Bilsport Custom Motor Show in Jönköping. It’s a great place to be at to advertise my racing and our sponsors and partners, I see it as a way to give something back to the ones that supports us and our racing! =D

The plan from the beginning was not to race at all this year due to some private stuff and due to all problems during the last couple of years when it comes to parts issues and promise that made me lose the spirit totally… BUT because of our awesome partners I changed my mind a bit and will do a couple of test races / outings only to chase that scoreboard to light up a 3.7??…

All partners that are helping out in some little way are really important to me and I really appreciate their help no matter what I get from them or what they do to me.

Then I of course have our own companies Åkes Bil & Motor, Birka Motorrenoveringar and Sjödin Motorsport Race Cars that me and my dad are running, without them nothing of my racing would be possible due to all the time I spend in the shop working on stuff to make the racing circus work both during my “free time” or we can call it after business hours but also during business hours… But what a hell, hard work pays off and if you really want something you are able to do it because it’s pretty much only yourself that stops you from doing what you really want!

But when it comes this year there is a couple of key persons / companies in Sweden outside our own shop that made it possible to be a part of the outings we will attend this year. I can’t describe in words how much I appreciate that all of these companies are helping us out because they believe in us and have an interest in seeing us succeed with the things we are aiming for and they also enjoy doing it, it makes me happy that they want a crazy person like me to live my child dream! So send a special thanks to the following companies below for supporting Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing!

Anders at Anders Bremö Byggnads.

Roffe at The Parts Stop Sweden.

Ulf at Winassist System.

Erik, Lasse and Per at Bengtssons Smide.

Peter and Patrik at Rörmekano.

Johan at Swelube / Amalie Motor Oil.

Tobbe and Björn at Thorbjörn Grundström Plåtslageri.

Back home at the shop again, the weekend didn’t turn out in the best way for sure… Before the weekend I said that it must be a rain free and not to many clean ups this weekend to make it a good one, well…. It’s been raining a lot and it’s been a lot of clean ups both because of rain but also afte a lot of cars…

Even that I didn’t get what I wanted this weeken I’m really satisfied anyway with our performance, in Q1 I wanted to just make sure to get into the ladder and we did with a 4.03s, in Q2 I hopped it up to make a low 90 and ended up with a 3.92s, in E1 I was looking for a mid 80 and ended up with a 3.87s, in E2 I hopped it up a bit to go fast, ended up with a crazy shake directly on the hit…. Funny thing is that I really didn’t make that big change so the car should do like it did, I haven’t even looked in the computer what really happened… that’s something I will do later when I get the racing spirit back again.

So we didn’t get enough rounds this weekend to succeed with what I wanted, but like I just said I’m satisfied anyway! Right now it feels really good that the season have come to an end, and at the same time it really sucks because this is what I want to do… It’s been a tough year from the start for sure, messed up races because of missing parts so we had to cancel the first test, parts that wasn’t good enough so we had to cancel the event after the first round, people that are supposed to do things but just instead disappointing me and it ends up that I need to take care of stuff I shouldn’t have myself, to messy at work etc….

But we ended up with one more trophy for 2017 this race, we were qualifier number 2 got to the semifinals and also the second fastest car on the event in our class! 🙂

Pretty ok anyway! 😀

Back home and It’s time for a long time away from race tracks!

I hopped it up a bit and found the limit on the track, started to shake directly when I released the button so I just let off the throttle and watched Lenn go down on a good looking pass! Congrats to the LL-Racing team! 🙂

The 2017 racing season is now over and it’s time to start figure out what to and what not to do next year, time will tell.

Time to pack this circus up for the last time this year.

Ready, but first…

The waiting game due to a clean up!
