What a weekend!!

Got back home to Sweden this morning after an awesome race weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indy at the US Nationals! Really fun and kind of crazy weekend also! Gary Pritchett that just earned / updated his license and made his debut at US Nats behind the steering wheel this past weekend in Jonnie Lindberg’s world record setting TAFC and at the same time working on the clutch on Steve Torrence Top Fuel Dragster.

Jonnie Lindberg did of course tune the alcohol car and at the same time he drove Jim Heads Fuel Funny Car!

To make it even a little more interesting Gary’s wife Leah Pritchett was the back up girl and also during the event she was driving her DSR Top Fuel Dragster and Factory Stock Dodge Challenger that she also won!! The rest of the team was me, Lars Erik Lindberg and Christian Merlid that flew over from Sweden to service the car between rounds we made a good team I think, Gary was second to third qualifier all weekend and we got all way to the semi finals!

I did for sure have a good time and made some new friends! 🙂

Of course I needed to check out the coolest shop in Indy! 😉

But now I’m back to really, got some work to do in the shop and I also need to get the last things around the Chevelle and the trailer ready because early tomorrow morning me, Max and dad are leaving the shop and will head down south Sweden for TD round 5 at Malmö Raceway, time to try set som new personal bests! I hope to see y’all there this weekend! =D

Last week me and Max got the truck back together again and it is ready for the trip to Malmö Raceway in little more than a week from today!

I did have a lot of trouble to get the brakes back together again, guess it’s because it’s an old model and a dragracing person is stupid enough to still use it…! 😉

I hate air brakes as much as I hate shitty persons that promises / say things and then do the total opposite!….

Thanks to Jörgen Berg for your support! I even got dad to spend some hours on it with me! 😉

Anyway me en Max (of course) did put it back together Thursday last week and took it for a test drive and everything works like it should now! 🙂

Max felt sorry for me I guess and made sure I got a really nice dinner afterwards! =D

Now it’s only the rest of the circus that needs to get organized and ready before TD round 5!

You can loose pretty much everyone around and they can be replaced, except Max!! Nothing can replace a friend that always helps you out and will be there whenever you need and also he shows up or call whenever he get some time off to see if he can help out in some way! =D Max is a BIG reason why our racing circus works out even if it’s really hard sometimes…! Max did have a Lenco evening for a customer and I did the last service stuff on the Chevelle and removed our noisy third member that only made 5 passes since new…. well at least I got a spare, soon ready for the race at Malmö Raceway in about 3 weeks from now, hope to see y’all there! 🙂

The car is warmed up and ready for the fourth qualifying session.

Pretty much nothing have happened on the Chevelle or the trailer since the end of May when we fired up the Chevelle at The Parts Stop Sweden’s SwapMeet except that I spent some time getting stuff around it in order for our first outing at Mantorp Park.

But last week Max had some time off and of course he decided to spend it here at the shop and service our truck replacing all oils and all filters everywhere on it!

He did also put one of our transmissions back together and made it ready to back in the Chevelle.

John went by also and spent some time on the trailer to make it more ready for some paint, hopefully that will happen after this season with help from our partner Kaross & Lackteknik in Jönköping! 😀

It actually gave me some spirit to start organize the winter mess in the trailer with parts and tools everywhere!!… 😉

A couple of weeks ago I also got all the necessary stainless steel material to fabricate the beds on the upper floor in the trailer, a huge thanks to Bengtssons Smide for always helping us out with the things we need, you guys are the best! 🙂

Last week was a long one but hard work pays off and the Chevelle is ready to make a pass except for some small improvements I would like to do now when I have time to do it!

It’s even loaded in the trailer but it’s almost 8 weeks left before it’s time to release the transbrake button at Mantorp Park and Mantorp Drag Revival, funny thing is that it still feels really good to make this soft season without so much racing with the Chevelle..! And when I do release it the next time it will be pretty much one whole year since I did a pass down the track with the Chevelle the last time!… That’s a really long time…

Mantorp Drag Revival! This is gonna be THE BIG drag racing event this year in Sweden!

Our Alan Johnson Conventional Billet Chevy Big Block cylinder heads are serviced with some new valves from Manley Performance and back together again!

Our Manton rocker arms are serviced with new rollers / pins and are improved with some new special bushings for the rocker arm axle that is way harder than the old ones, hopefully this will solve the last small stuff I’m not totally happy with when it comes to my motor.

Heads and valve train parts are back on the motor again!

New gear set in the rear, it’s new year with just some small changes that I hope will do the right things to the car down the track… 😉

Fuel pump checked trough! 🙂

Feels really strange to be ready this early, but if you really work for something it will happen, right? =D

It’s even warmed up two times at the The Parts Stop Sweden last weekend, thanks to King Rolf for supporting Sjödin Motorsport / ÅBM Racing during this year also!

Now she’s just gonna sit in here waiting for someone to care about her! 😉

And we are finally noisy again!!! A really Good Friday today, the Chevelle is fired up for the first time in 2018 and loaded in the trailer! 🙂 Tomorrow morning we will go to our partner Roffe at The Parts Stop Sweden and his yearly Swap Meet! If you are in Stockholm come and visit us at Överby Gård in Sollentuna and listen when the Chevelle makes some noise (music) =D

Just be there! 😉

I always get that good feeling when I know the race car is done! 😀

It was a good sunny warm weekend (inside) the ABM shop for me and Max! Not jealous at all on my Top Doorslammer buddy’s that went to the first race in Malmö this past weekend… 😉

Got the cylinders in the block cleaned up a bit, that’s the good part with custom parts you can have them just like you want them so I added a thousand to the new pistons from CP Carrillo so I will have new fresh cylinders again! 🙂

Beautiful parts!

Also checked the mains while having the block out from the car, pretty good deal to have your own engine overhauling shop, Birka Motorrenoveringar that I have access to 24/7! 😀

Cleaned up everything in the heat washer and got the short block assembled with a lot of new parts!

And after that finally back in the chassis again!

I also decided to do some changes to the converter, look forward to see what it does to the performace!

Now it’s time to get the upper part of the motor together again, we are going to be noisy on Saturday at The Parts Stop Sweden’s yearly Swap Meet! 🙂

We also got the truck and trailer back home to the Sjodin Motorsport / ABM Racing shop and that feels crazy good to have my “home” at the shop back again!
